![]() So far they’ve outlined those as Conquest, Breakthrough, Hazard Zone, and there’s still a big question mark with a mystery mode that has yet to be revealed. It’s possible that they are waiting for a better time to reveal the mode, but given the lack of success that their last Battle Royale mode had, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen this time around.īattlefield 2042 is going to feature 128 players so they can certainly support a massive Battle Royale game, but it looks like DICE is going to be focused on the core modes. DICE has been coy in the past regarding additional modes. The developers were asked multiple times whether they had plans for a Battle Royale mode and each time they shot down the questions, going so far as to say they are not working on it at this time. That answer is there are currently no plans for a Battle Royale mode in Battlefield 2042. We’ve got a definitive answer from DICE in a recent preview for the game whether there will be a Battle Royale in the next Battlefield game. With the announcement of Battlefield 2042 fans are already asking if there’s going to be a battle royale mode in the game. October 14th promises new information about the game's Hazard Zone mode, which promises squad based gameplay that pushes the envelope of what players expect from a typical battle royale. Perhaps sooner rather than later, but we’ll just have to see what the devs at DICE have up their sleeves.Over the past few years just about every big shooter franchise has had to try their hand at a Battle Royale. Obviously, Battlefield 2042 isn't a battle royale, but it will include a mode that is similar to that genre in some ways. But should it be in the game? Absolutely. Will it hurt sales if the game doesn’t drop with a BR mode? Probably not noticeably. Personally, if it means we’re going to get a groundbreaking Battle Royale game, it will be worth the wait. But at the end of the day, it’s up to DICE. Many people in the Twitter announcement for Battlefield 2042 were shouting about how they don’t want a BR in the game. I want the multiplayer, but I also want the BR, especially on that engine.”ĭr Direspect calls the people who think BR games are “ played out” idiots, and that Battle Royale games are just getting started. The hell you guys talking about? These are the same people that are trapped in a box. There’s so many different engines, so many different fictions and games and designs. In a recent video, Dr Disrespect had this to say: To have an option on a new, fresh game could be just what the Doc orders. That might be in part to a game he no longer enjoys, Warzone. He doesn’t think BR games are dying, but are instead growing more popular. He’s pleaded with DICE in a recent video to make sure Battlefield 2042 does have a Battle Royale. There’s been a lot of outcries though, and in particular, it’s come from Dr Disrespect. We could use all of the awesome vehicles to make the system way more intense. ![]() There’s so much you can do with a Battle Royale in this game engine. They must be supremely confident in how good their multiplayer offerings are. There has to be a good reason for it though. That’s a bold decision for DICE, that’s for sure. We know that Battlefield 2042 launches with three modes, and neither of them will be a Single-Player Campaign or a Battle Royale. We’ve previously discussed this when talking about the potential of crossplay. Perhaps the reason for this is that the last-gen versions will have smaller lobbies. Considering how huge the maps are, and given that multiplayer will feature 128 player lobbies, it would only make sense. It’s surprising that Battlefield 2042 won’t start with a Battle Royale game though. “It’s Something We’ll Have to See Down The Line.” – Nickole Li:
